wanted

Local individuals who are willing to provide a valuable service to the community

The Wickenburg area unit, the Southern Yavapai County Sheriff’s Response Team (SYCSRT), is looking for new members.

Interested individuals will have an opportunity to receive hands-on experience in such skills as man tracking, map reading, GPS use, rough country ATV training, radio communications and emergency first aid.  Training will take place in locations from in-town to some of the most picturesque, and virtually unknown, places in the backcountry of rustic and rugged Yavapai County.

Individual members can develop the confidence to find that unwary soul who is injured, lost or just broke down, with little hope of getting out on his own.

Such individuals will learn that SYCSRT members never travel alone and that all basic equipment and supplies are available to prospective members.

Volunteers’ expenses are tax deductible, with some costs reimbursed by the county.

Part-time residents are also encouraged to apply. Must have a AZ drivers license.

The Southern Yavapai County Sheriff’s Response Team (SYCSRT) is made up of dedicated individuals who volunteer their time and effort to provide important Search and Rescue operations in conjunction with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.  For more information, please go to: http://sycsrt.org , email us at:  sar@sycsrt.ORG, or call (928)684-7760 or (928)684-2334.

Land Of The Sun Endurance Ride in Wickenburg

On Saturday February 6th 2010, SYCSRT assisted High Desert SAR at the Land Of The Sun Endurance Ride in Wickenburg. SYCSRT provided 6 members and 2 applicants for this detail which included communications, vehicular traffic control and monitoring of equestrian teams. Also provided by SYCSRT were the APRS tracking devices carried by the drag riders who cleared the trails after all competitors had completed their courses. The APRS worked very well on this deployment and allowed both SYCSRT and High Desert SAR to plot the route taken by the drag riders on a real time basis.

The weather was cool and overcast during most of the detail with a light rain in the afternoon. The equestrian teams were very happy to have us there and thanked us many times for our help and presence.
